All EBU broadcaster brief producers. Briefings serve two purposes; they enable the broadcasters to engage with suppliers to secure the best new programme ideas - they also offer producers a route to connect with broadcasters and potentially win commissions.

However, the methods that EBU Fiction group members employ to brief producers vary from broadcaster to broadcaster. Requirements of each broadcaster may also vary as may the ways that those requirements are defined.

Ultimately however the aim is the same for all public service broadcasters – to attract the best programme ideas.
