94th General Assembly
3 - 4 Jul 2025
The 94th General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) took place in London on 3–4 July 2025, hosted by the BBC. The event brought together 191 Public Service Media (PSM) leaders from 80 organisations across 52 countries.
Two-Day Programme Highlights
Following a morning dedicated to annual reports and governance matters, the afternoon of Day One kicked off with a session on commercial media market trends, presented by Claire Enders (Enders Analysis).
A panel on "Working with Governments to Support PSM," featuring speakers from across the EBU membership, examined approaches for navigating today’s complex political environment. This session highlighted our latest advocacy tool, the PSM Compass.
Day One concluded with a session dedicated to news, covering both trust and AI. EBU Director of News Liz Corbin presented the Five Principles for News Integrity in the Age of AI.
Day Two featured a keynote by former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton, followed by a fireside chat between Tim Davie (BBC Director General) and presenter and author Richard Osman.
Further sessions focused on YouTube and PSM collaboration with contributions from YouTube’s Pedro Pina and Evan Shapiro; the UK’s new ‘Freely’ streaming platform; and the impact of global instability on media.
Delegates also enjoyed guided tours of the BBC Broadcasting House, with live demonstrations of the latest BBC and EBU technology and innovation projects.
