The TV Music & Performing Arts Experts Group brings together members involved in the production of a diverse array of music and performing arts content, including concerts, documentaries, festivals, competitions, and other programming for main, secondary, or cultural channels. Its mission is to enhance the cultural TV programming landscape by fostering collaboration, innovation, and diversity within public service broadcasting, with a focus on a wide range of musical genres and performing arts.
The group serves as a platform for commissioners and producers from public service broadcasters to collaborate and exchange information on industry trends and opportunities. Members work together on coproduction projects such as Eurovision Young Musicians as well as the distribution of major cultural events like the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s New Year’s Concert.
The community meets annually in a plenary session during the Golden Prague Festival, with informal meetings (essentially virtual) throughout the year. These gatherings provide members the opportunity to network, discuss trends, and collaborate on new projects.
Focus Areas
- Music: Classical, Jazz, Folk, Traditional, and other diverse music genres.
- Performing Arts: Dance, Ballet, Music Festivals, Competitions, and Concerts.
- Documentaries: Exploring the narratives within the performing arts and music sectors, acknowledging the group’s role in filling the gap in EBU’s focus on these films.
