News Assembly

The News Assembly is an opportunity for EBU Member staff to network with their fellow news directors, editors-in-chief and foreign editors. It is an annual meeting where influential experts exchange views about improving coverage, reducing costs and adapting to the ever-changing media market.

 

The 20th News Assembly will be held in-person on 22 and 23 October at the Teatro Mediterraneo, Mostra d'Oltremare, in Naples, Italy, hosted by RAI.

Elections

This year, the Assembly will elect the members of the News Committee for the 2025-2027 mandate. The voting process will take place on the second day of the Assembly on Thursday 23 October and shall follow the procedure set out in Part II of the EBU Byelaws and the Terms of Reference for the News Committee. All EBU Active Members participating to the News Exchange are entitled to vote and the candidates for the News Committee must be representatives of such Members.
Candidates must announce their intention to stand by the deadline of 18 September at 18:00 CET via the online form, and with supporting materials sent via email.

    • a letter of support from their senior management

Additionally, candidates must have sufficient time to carry out their duties on the News Committee, and the resources to cover travel costs for in-person News Committee meetings and all other relevant meetings related to their position on the News Committee. There are in principle four News Committee meetings per year, in person and online, as well as occasional ad hoc meetings dedicated to specific topics.
