We're very pleased to announce that we're launching a game collaboration initiative focusing on (1) games exchange, and (2) games co-production in partnership with DR, and you are invited to join a strategic workshop we're organizing to kick off the initiative in Copenhagen on 29-30 April hosted by DR.

During the two-day meet-up, we will explore the future of collaborative game development among public service broadcasters, focusing on collaboration strategies, games exchange, and co-development opportunities. If you're an EBU Member interested in getting into the gaming space or expanding your presence in the gaming world and are looking for collaborations, then this is the meet-up for you!

Sign up to attend the workshop before 20 April 2025!

Why this initiative?

Public service broadcasters across Europe face very similar challenges in reaching their audiences with content that meets their needs. As games become increasingly popular, especially among youths who now spend more time gaming than watching TV, it is crucial for us to adapt.

By leveraging the collective talent and creativity of EBU members, we believe we can create unique and captivating gaming experiences. Moreover, sharing successful games across regions allows for localized adaptation at a much lower cost than creating new ones from scratch.

Ultimately, this initiative is not just about creating games; it's about building a sustainable ecosystem where public service broadcasters can evolve to meet the new audience needs and continue to create engaging and meaningful content. By combining our resources and expertise, we can make free, high-quality games accessible for our audiences, while ensuring that public service broadcasters remain at the forefront of digital innovation.

What is on the agenda?

Day 1 (Games Exchange): Discussion on how to navigate regulations for collaborative projects and explore the possibility of sharing existing games.

Day 2 (Games co-production/co-funding Initiative): Exploring the possibilities of co-producing a shared multiplayer game

Depending on whether you are looking for exchange or co-production opportunities, you also have the possibility to attend either of the two days.

Who should join?

EBU Members looking to expand their game catalogue: Those who want to increase their game offerings more affordably than building from scratch.

EBU Members seeking to meet user demand for large social online games: Those who lack financial resources or a large enough audience to sustain games independently.
