VIDEO TALKS
Media Law in Kazakhstan
Foreign media will soon need to comply with new, yet-to-be-announced laws aimed at promoting local language content under the pretext of free speech and countering Russian influence, following unrest in Kazakhstan and similar regulations in Kyrgyzstan. The expected impact includes a requirement for at least 10% of content to be Kazakh-produced or in local languages, which could force international broadcasters like DW and the BBC to withdraw channels.
