Series of veraAI webinars highlights research on AI against disinformation

Since September 2022, the EBU has been participating in veraAI, a Horizon Europe project that develops AI-based tools against disinformation. Join us in our webinar series about the research behind this innovative project.

veraAI is a 3-year research project that aims to tackle the issue of disinformation by developing AI-based tools to help professionals analyse and verify information. The EBU is one of 14 European partners involved and works specifically on user needs, participatory design and evaluations.

The project has been breaking new ground with its research, resulting in a number of innovative solutions with the potential to benefit EBU members, and the media industry in general, in their fight against disinformation.

Seeing fruits of the labour

Now that the project is in its third and final year, the EBU’s Technology & Innovation department has been organizing a series of monthly webinars about the research behind the project and its results.

Each month, a different veraAI project partner shows how they apply AI capabilities in tools developed to support the work of fact-checkers, journalists and media researchers. The series already includes 6 episodes, with video recordings and slides available on their event pages. The topics include:

We welcome you to watch these previous episodes, and invite you to join us for the next webinar on 30 April (11:00 Geneva time), which will focus on the detection of coordinated disinformation campaigns on social media.

Join us also for a series of online training sessions coming up in May! More information here.

The veraAI project is co-financed by the European Union, Horizon Europe programme, Grant Agreement No 101070093, with additional funding from Innovate UK grant No 10039055 and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) under contract No 22.00245.
