Investigative Journalism Network Workshop

Join us for our annual group meeting and story pitch workshop, which this year will take place in Vienna at the kind invitation of our member ORF.  

This meeting is the perfect opportunity to find investigative reporters around the continent to collaborate on cross-border stories of international relevance, or to make connections that will enrich your newsgathering in the future.  

The workshop will run for two days, starting in the morning of 1 October and ending in the afternoon of 2 October. The detailed agenda will be published during the summer but will include the showcase of investigative projects, story pitching sessions, a training workshop run by a data expert on the use of AI tools in investigative journalism and a networking dinner.  

Please register by 10 September 2025. 

To better prepare the session and connect relevant reporters from different news organizations, we would like you to send us a summary of your ideas, by 25 September 2025, including the following:  

• Headline 
• Short description of investigation (including existing sources, challenges, and method) 
• Countries involved 
• Tentative publishing deadline 

The story ideas are shared under strict confidentiality rules.  

The EBU Investigative Journalism Network is a community of dozens of investigative reporters and editors based in more than 20 countries. All of them -all of you- share an expertise in this field Joint journalistic projects have in the past stemmed from similar networking workshops, like the group’s investigations on and Playing with Fire, Who Owns European Football?, Russification in Occupied Ukraine and The Missing Children of Ukraine.
