Travel information from the aiport to the city centre
There are several options to get from the airport to Dublin city centre.
The Dublin airport app available on IOS and Android is the ultimate guide for travelling through Dublin Airport, providing essential, up-to-date travel information and assistance.
You can find other travel Apps for getting around Dublin here.
1. Bus (and around Dublin during your stay)
You can buy a Leap Visitor Card - Leap Card which is valid on public transport and can be purchased at the airport. It provides unlimited travel for your selected time period on Dublin City Bus services as well as the Airlink 747 bus. It is also recommended that visitors purchase the visitor’s card as some Dublin buses only accept coins (no cards).
The card can be purchased either on a daily basis or for 3 or 7 days:
- 1 day (24 hours) – €8
- 3 days (72 hours) – €16
Here are two buses you can take from the airport to the city:
a) Aircoach (accept the Leap Visitor Card)
Aircoach operates many routes to Dublin City centre, and departs from just outside Terminal 1, zone 2, and Terminal 2, zone 20. To view, please see the Dublin Airport bus map here.
Tickets can be purchased online here in advance or at the Aircoach departure points at terminals. Tickets can also be purchased from the driver using a bank card, Apple or Google pay (contactless payment total must not exceed €50). Cash is accepted.
Journey time will depend on traffic conditions etc. but is usually 30 minutes from the city centre.
b) Dublin Express (doesn't accept the Leap Visitor Card)
Dublin Express operates from Zone 1 at Terminal 1 and Zone 21 at Terminal 2 and travels directly into Dublin via the Port Tunnel, making it the fastest coach to Dublin City centre. View Dublin Airport bus map here.
Buses leave every 15 minutes. The fastest journey between Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre takes 14 minutes.
A direct ticket to the airport/ city centre costs €8 when you book online. Pre-purchased tickets bought online work out more cost-effective and can be bought directly from their website.
Tickets can also be purchased directly from the driver on the day, using a bank card, Apple or Goggle pay. Cash is not accepted.
2. Taxi
You should follow taxi signage from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to the taxi ranks outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. A taxi dispatcher is available at both taxi ranks if you require any further information or assistance.
Taxis in Dublin can only be identified by the ‘taxi’ sign on the roof of the vehicle. They have no other distinguishing marks.
As a passenger in a taxi you are entitled to have all fares calculated on the taxi meter and have a receipt printed by the taximeter.
Taxis in Ireland must accept credit and debit card payments as well as cash.
The estimated cost of a journey from Dublin airport to Dublin city-center is between €25 to €30.
